Interesting Weight Loss Research Results

What you are going to read below is some interesting facts about weight loss. This information is based on some research that was conducted.

It shows you the result of certain aspects of dieting such as choosing the type of foods you eat and the type of exercise you perform. The number of calories is also a consideration here.

Diet

Weight loss foods are grouped into the following main categories: lean meat, dairy products, eggs, nuts, fruits, and veggies. Whole grains also are very important.

It should also help you to know that in one four-month study, 48 obese female volunteers were divided into two groups. One group ate a protein-rich diet that has a certain level of leucine in it.

Leucine is one of the essential amino acids that the body needs. A second group consumed a diet based on the typical government food pyramid. This is a diet that has higher amounts of carbohydrates in it.

Both groups consumed the same number of calories, but the first group substituted high-quality protein foods, such as meats, dairy, eggs and nuts. The second group ate a higher concentration of foods rich in carbohydrates; such as breads, rice, cereal, pasta and potatoes.

The same groups of people were also involved in two different levels of exercise. One group walked two to three times a week, but less than 100 total minutes.

The other group instead completed five 30-minute walking sessions every single week. In addition, this group also completed 30 minutes of weight lifting and stretching sessions.

The one group of obese women had exercised most days of the week and consumed a reduced-calorie 1,700-calorie diet that was high in protein. This is the group that lost more fat and lost less muscle than the women who ate a diet high in carbohydrates.

Conclusion

According to reports concerning the above research, both diets work. What makes them work is the fact that any time you restrict calories you lose weight.

However, the people who consumed the diet of higher-protein foods are the ones that lost more weight. This is according to researcher Donald Layman. He is a professor of food science and human nutrition at the University Of Illinois.

Remember, however, that this describes just one isolated study. You should conduct further research to make further determinations. The more research you perform the better off you are as it can give you a full perspective.
