Introduction to weight loss

There is a general opinion that fat is what actually makes you gain weight, not proteins and carbohydrates. This is only partially correct. All fat and carbohydrates that we get into our bodies are converted to glucose, which gives us energy. However, all energy that is not used up by our bodies is transformed into fat. Therefore eating fat free food can also cause us to gain weight.

Carbohydrates are the main fuel for our bodies. There are two kinds of carbohydrates:

Simple carbohydrates raise level of glucose in our blood very fast, and if that energy is not used it will transform into fat. Products that contain a lot of simple carbohydrates are chocolate, sugar, pop, white flour, etc. however, these kind of carbohydrates can also be found in bananas, pineapple, watermelon, etc. so we have to be careful when consuming those products too.

Complex carbohydrates come from vegetables, nuts, and their levels of sugar are slowly dissolving in our bodies, which causes slow production of insulin. Therefore most of carbohydrates that we get into our bodies should come from this kind of carbohydrates, that is complex carbohydrates.

Right now you are probably wondering what kind of food should you eat in order to get more complex carbohydrates than simple carbohydrates.
